DESY celebrates 60 years of research with synchrotron light

Pioneers in Germany: since 1964, researchers at DESY in Hamburg send elementary particles through accelerator rings and with them generate synchrotron light – light that comprises all wavelengths, from infrared light up to brilliant X-ray light. Scientists from around the world use these extremely bundled and intense X-rays for their research – from medical research to nanotechnology.

DESY celebrates the pioneering achievements with its X-ray light sources with a festive colloquium on 26 August 2024! Around 300 former and current companions will celebrate 60 years of accelerated research at DESY. Zum Programm
